Hello, world
Welcome to my corner of the web. This site is where I show what I build and write about how I build it, and like everything here, it's made from scratch.
I could have reached for a headless CMS or a template. Instead I wanted a site I understand down to the last line, and a place to try out new web technology on something real.
What's under the hood
The site runs on Next.js 16 with the App Router. Most pages are prerendered, and only the parts that depend on who's signed in stream in after, using Cache Components and Partial Prerendering. The React Compiler takes care of memoization, so the code stays plain.
- Styling: Tailwind CSS 4 with a small set of design tokens, which is what makes five themes possible: light, dark, system and two Catppuccin flavors.
- Data: PostgreSQL through Prisma, with posts, projects, comments and accounts.
- Pictures: stored on my own server in Garage, an S3-compatible store, uploaded straight from the browser in three sizes.
- Tooling: Bun for installs and scripts.
Comments without a widget
The comments under each post are my own, not an embedded widget. You sign in with Discord, and the sign-in is written by hand: every login gets a single-use state cookie, sessions are stored only as hashes, and the account page lists your devices so you can sign out the ones you don't use. You can also download everything the site keeps about you, or delete your account.
A quick code sample
Here's how a page reads its published posts. The function is cached, and saving a post refreshes that cache through its tag:

I'll use this space for deep dives into full-stack development, interface details and lessons from my projects. Building things from scratch always turns up interesting edge cases, and I want to write those down.
